Indoor Air Quality
The quality of the air we breathe, both at home and at work, is one of the most important factors in our lives. Poor indoor air quality can cause a huge number of health issues as well as issues to items in our homes – our floors, upholstery, woodwork, etc. At Robies, we take a four-pronged approach to indoor air quality:
- Humidity Control. On Cape Cod, everything starts with controlling humidity. In the summer, the humidity on the Cape is oppressive which can cause major issues to our home. Mold and mildew thrive in humid conditions which can cause serious health issues. Installing a dehumidifier is an absolute must for every Cape Cod home – it is not an option! Whether Robies installs one or you purchase one from Home Depot – it is mandatory. On the flip side, winters in New England bring dry air. Homes need to add humidity in the winter. The installation of a humidifier by a professional contractor like Robies is critical. Humidity helps our homes – woodwork, floors, furniture, etc. must be protected from drying out too much. But the key benefit is our health. Adding humidity in the winter helps prevent colds and other illness, helps prevent dry skin & dandruff, helps prevent dry eyes and so much more.
- Air Filtration. For any home or business with a Air Conditioning, air filtration is easy. Robies prefers MERV 13 filters that are 5” wide. These filters are extremely effective at cleaning the air. For homes without centrally ducted systems, there are standalone air filtration systems available.
- Air Purification. Robies has conducted extensive research to select the most effective air purifiers in the market. We offer air purification systems that can be added to centrally ducted systems, ductless units as well as standalone air purifiers.
- Fresh Air. Introducing fresh air to a home or business while simultaneously removing stale air is a powerful tool for achieving quality indoor air. Robies offers Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERV) – essentially a simple blower system that moves fresh air from outside to the indoor space while removing stale air from the indoor space, sending it outside. These systems can be installed in nearly any basement or attic.
These four items combined represent the ideal strategy for achieving high quality indoor air and protecting our home and our health against viruses, bacteria, VOC’s, air pollutants, odors, mold, mildew, dust and particulates in the air. We consider these to be absolute must haves for every home here on the Cape.
Robies offers indoor air quality solutions for both residential and commercial applications.
