Robies was founded right here on Cape Cod in 1959 by Gerhard “Gerry” Robichaud. From the very beginning, Gerry set the standard for service and quality to his customers, not only for himself but also for the growing staff of professionals at Robies.
Gerry initially focused on refrigeration for the Cape’s tourism-dependent restaurants and lodging establishments — which is why the company was initially called “Robies Refrigeration.” Professionalism, quality work and customer service have always been cornerstones of the business. Working alongside Gerry was his wife Virginia “Ginny” Robichaud, who was involved with the office administration for many years. She and Gerry loved Robies and today would be proud of what the company has become.
Over time Robies has grown to focus primarily on residential heating and cooling. We still offer — and excel at — refrigeration services as well as commercial heating and cooling. Gerry’s two sons, John and Jim, have been involved with the business from a young age. John was Gerry’s lead service technician for many years and worked tirelessly to help build Robies into one of the most respected and recommended contractors on Cape Cod. Jim has helped grow the Installation Department at Robies with his residential comfort knowledge and expertise. Both Jim and John understand the unique needs of Cape Cod homeowners and business managers and which solutions tend to be the best ones given our “unique” weather here on the Cape.
Gerry and Ginny have sadly both passed, but they lived long enough to see the third generation of Robichauds join the family business. John’s sons Michael and Stephen are now both involved with the business and are proud to continue a family tradition. Mike works in the Installation Department and takes immense pride and care in his work. Steve works in the Sales Department, and is thrilled to continue to represent the Robies brand.
Robies has grown by leaps and bounds since 1959. The company is now a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer – the only dealer with this designation on Cape Cod. Carrier is a well-respected brand for heating and air conditioning and is the perfect fit for Robies. Robies recently renovated its office, and everyone at the business looks forward to a bright, successful future here on Cape Cod.
