Robies offers electrical wiring for any residential application.

Residential electrical wiring typically falls into three categories:

Inside Your Home

There are endless opportunities to improve electrical components in our homes. One of the most popular that Robies deals with is indoor lighting. Recessed lighting, dimmers, fixtures, rope lighting, under cabinet lighting – all of these enhance any indoor space and make life in our homes more enjoyable. Upgrading old switches is also a way to elevate a room. There is nothing worse that renovating a room with a fresh coat of paint but leaving the old yellow light switches. Upgrading switches and plugs is a relatively affordable and simple job that makes a huge difference on the general indoor aesthetic.

We also love working on hidden TV wiring / entertainment centers, EV chargers, garage lighting, basement lighting, charging outlets and so much more. The opportunities for elevating an indoor space are endless.

Keeping our indoor spaces safe is another area worth focusing on – Robies electrical safety inspection checks all smoke and CO detectors and offers installation of new and more modern versions.

Outside Your Home

Making modifications and upgrades to the exterior of homes is a common category for our electrical team.  Landscape lighting has become immensely popular and can make a huge difference in the overall aesthetic of a home.  Tree and home uplighting, path lighting, garden lighting, deck and patio lighting all greatly enhance the overall exterior look of any home.
Outdoor smart upgrades are also very popular – smart cameras, smart floodlights, smart doorbells, smart locks, smart post lighting.  Many homes have outdoor lights that don’t require any input from the homeowner – accent lights that turn on and off with the sunset / sunrise, lights that turn on with motion or geofence location.

Behind the Scenes

There are all of the components that may not be visible or top of mind on a daily basis.  However, these are the often the most critical electrical systems in our homes.  Its important to make sure components are checked for safety and fire hazards, ensuring components are wired properly, tightly, grounded and are not corroding or out of date.
Many homes have original 100 amp electrical services that need to be updated / upgraded to a 150 amp or 200 amp service.  Robies handles these electrical upgrades as well as panel upgrades and installation of subpanels.  When adding components to a home, its important to not only consider the physical space in the panel to accept more breakers – its also important to assess the capacity in the panel.  If a 100 amp panel has a 30 amp dryer, 40 amp range and 30 amp air conditioner, it is likely near, at or beyond capacity and should be upgrade to a 150 amp or 200 amp service.  Robies has considerable experience making these upgrades, which includes underground work if necessary as well as collaborating Eversource on behalf of our customers.
Some panels such as Federal Pacific may pose a fire risk.  Often insurance companies may flag issues during routine inspections.
Luckily, any work behind the scenes to upgrade, improve or modernize systems increases the safety in the home and increases the value of the home as well.
Often when a homeowner is considering selling their home, or preparing it to be sold, an electrical inspection by a licensed electrician can identify issues before they become problems and before a home inspector may find them.
Our Electrical Safety Inspection is an ideal way to have a qualified professional perform a once over on electrical systems.
